Fondazione Marcegaglia Onlus is an Italian foundation of participation, set up in 2010 by the Marcegaglia’s, a family of entrepreneurs: Steno Marcegaglia, his wife Mira, his sons Emma and Antonio with Carolina Toso Marcegaglia, who was entrusted with the presidency.

In Rwanda, The foundation has been partnering with the Ministry of Local Government and District of Bugesera to work on community development projects since 2013. Their main goal is to empower and increase the economic status of less privileged women.
The objectives of the project are the following:
1). Rwanda Government and Fondazione Marcegaglia agree that the overall goals of the “One Cow” is to address the fundamental needs of food insecure families.
2). Assist the Rwandan widowed women to enhance living conditions for their families through practice of modern livestock and farming;
3). Support Rwanda as it is becoming the showcase for societal transformation by realizing most of Millennium Development Goals, through a successful implementation of EDPRS (Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Strategy) towards 2020 vision
Desire moved to Rwanda in 1994 and spent his childhood growing up there. He holds a Masters in Public Health, with strong expertise in project management and rural development. Desire initiated and directed all FMO projects in Rwanda since 2013, and hopes to continue to expand the number of beneficiaries. He also represents the One Laptop Per Child.Inc in Sub-Saharan Africa since 2009 and currently serves in Bugesera District's JADF as President of Social Development Commission.
